Gtk-Warning Cannot open display

I am installing Fedora Core 5 on an Averatec laptop, and after passing the media check, the FC5 begins to install, and then stops with:

(mini-wm: 507): Gtk-WARNING** : cannot open display: :1

Not sure where to go from here, but I later tried:

Code:

linux nofb

But this did not remedy the problem. Any ideas? Thanks everybody.
