Yum download j2re problem

Hi folks,
I am trying to install j2re ,I installed it once but various other programs that I try to install cant find it,they claim its not installed.
So when I tried to re install I get...

//var/cache/yum/updates-released/repomd.xml:614: parser error : Premature end of data in tag html line 3

^
Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: updates-released
Error importing repomd.xml from updates-released: Error: could not parse file //var/cache/yum/updates-released/repomd.xml
[root@localhost gaspode]#

Is this down to me or a problem with the download site ?

Probably blindingly obvious ,but I'm trying to learn about 4 subjects/systems
at once and suffering from a bit of input overload my self so any help would be much appreciated :-)

P.S. Running Fedora C4 on desktop.

That XML parse error is almost certainly due to a 404 error page or something. Notice it choked on the html tag, which is a regular web page but not yum metadata.

If you are thinking of the jre you need to download it from Sun. Check Finley's guide for details
