Flash not Plugging In to Firefox

RIghty-oh, I've tried to install Flash Player into Firefox as a plug-in using Firefox's own plug-in installer, and done it manually as well, but it just won't work. I dunno if Firefox ain't registering it as a plugin or what... any ideas on where to start looking?

Two great websites for Fedora Core

Well, you didn't say what Linux flavor you are using, and all I know at this point is Fedora Core 5, so everything I say further reflects upon that fact. There are two great websites that should point you in the right direction (for Fedora Core 5):

http://www.fedorafaq.org/
http://stanton-finley.net/

They both cover other versions of Fedora as well. Read both and decide which of the two you want to follow. I read both, and both have good information. Kudos to both of these people (they make being a newbie like myself a LOT less painful)!

into firefox addressbar and check if there's an entry named Shockwave Flash. And I guess I dont have to mention that restarting firefox after the install is recommended.
OR you can download one from here

Okay, here's what I ended up doing... following byroniac's advice, I went to fedorafaq.org which led me to a page telling me to download a Macromedia repos thingy. Now this was my first time coming across anything like this, but I quickly established how they work. Went here, got the repos, installed and it didn't work well, rebooted and it worked fine. Perfect, thanks for your help!

Exclamation Flash FAQ (especially for text not working in flash)

Also check out this faq (from the site where the flash plugin actually comes from):

http://macromedia.mplug.org/faq.html#font

I had a problem originally with no text showing up in Flash, and the question #11 on this faq fixed it (Fedora Core 5).

In the futurem when installing plugins, rather than rebooting, restarting firefox is usually sufficient to get it to recognize the new plugin.
