Network Attached Storage (NAS)

Hi people,
Has anybody used a NAS with fedora ? I not talking the high end version. The home use version, I know of is Buffalo Technology. But never use it.
Please share your tips.

Cheers

I just purchased a Maxtor H01R300 and accessed the drive as one of the Windows shares VERY easily!

high-end NAS's and home network storage would be accessed the same way (i.e. NFS/CIFS/SAMBA).

The real difference with high-end NAS is more storage (terabytes) and appliance-centric (i.e. web based interface etc.) for easy management, deployment and supportability, plus quota and some have iSCSI options as well. Most of them run Windows Storage Server or a lock-down linux kernel.

The Linksys WRTSL54GS is a wireless router with a USB port for attaching an external hard drive or a printer or hub or whatever. It works great with Thibor's version of HyperWRT firmware.

If you have an old PC around and would like to setup a Network Attached Storage (NAS) server, you may want to try NASLite. I installed this on a PC last week and I was very impressed with the ease of installation and performance of the product. Here is the link.

Enjoy!
