a newbie here

hi! am new in linux and just installed the FC4 Server following the guide(howto) below:

http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_setup_fedora_core_4

i've done everything and seems works fine... what i want now is that i want to boot my newly installed FC4 Server on GUI based, as i have much things to learn on commands using FC4 server in TEXT based mode.

i browsed/search the forums and do exactly what the guides tell, still nothing happens, tried ctrl+alt+f7 i only got a black screen, tried XFCE still nothing happens.

are there any other ways of running FC4 Server in GUI based?

my appreciations...

thanks...

zhan

If "X" is loaded, it should work from the command line by typing: startx <enter>

If not, server must not load X be default. I have never loaded a server only setup so I don't know for sure.

Give it a try,
Jeff

startx is not available, i mean its not in the system, its says:

"-bash: startx: command not found."
