KDE control center admin problem

Every time that I try to gain administrator mode in the KDE control center it gives me an error for the su command. When I click on the button to get admin mode it displays an error dialog window that says "Su returned with an error." The su command works perfectly in Gnome. Also, if I run the control center from the command line as root, it works (obviously doesn't need to ask for password again). Is there some sort of setting that needs to be changed? Please help...
