Hi, I've been going crazy trying to fix this problem with my ethernet on my Dell Laptop - I have a Broadcom Corporation BCM330-B0 100Base-TX - I'm trying to get eth0 to work however, it will not pick up my DNS Server and does not want to set an IP, DNS or Gateway.
I've tried specifying a static ip/gateway/subnet mask and when I type "ifconfig eth0" it shows subnet as 192.168.0.255 (My router is 192.168.0.1) - if I try to change it using ifconfig eth0 bcast 192.168.0.1 - I recieve a "mask: Hostname lookup failure"
I've also tried running it as Automatically obation IP address settings with "dchp" - I receive a "Cannot activate network device eth0!
I've also ran system-config-network multiple times and tried to activate it, reboot and so on, nothing has been working.
I have Windows XP on this machine since I have 2 partitions and it works fine. I've also tried 3 RJ-45 cables and its not working.
If anyone could be so gladly to help me out, I would LOVE IT!
