libstdc++.so.5 error 64bit fc3

trying to run a bf2 server i get an error, i;ve googled and seracehd here, it seems my libraries are out of date or soemthing, when i try to follow steps to update them it gets me no where fast

Code:
error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
can yum update my libraries at all? if not some rather specific instructions on what to do would make a happy newb of me. this is fedora core 3 64bit. if you want to know why im not on fedora core 4 (shich seemingly salves the problem) look here http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=78558
