Dear Linux Users,
I am having a Compaq Presario M2000. I need to check my Mails and Browse for my official chores. I am planning to migrate to Linux from MS.
I am craving for a Linux Distro that can support a Modem. I have tried various Linux Flavours on numerous machines but never gotten these Winmodems Work.
I have tried Peanut, RH, FC 2, Suse, FC 3 and Xandros (Now). I am from India and my ISP widely distributes Conexant ADSL WAN Winmodems. (Globespan Virata and Globespan). I cant compile any of them after downloading the source from sourceforge.net. Later, I understood that my Modem is made of a chipset that is never reported to have worked.
Also my Laptop comes with an inbuilt AC97 Conexant HSF Modem. FC3 never detected it. The worst part, HP supplies with a driver which I can't compile. The reason, I dont know where the Kernel Source resides in FC3.
I can't access my NTFS partition because, I dont have the rpm installed. I downloaded it to my Windows partition but unable to run it in Linux because FC3 never detect my Mercury 128MB, USB 2.0, Flash Driver.
Can anyone suggest an alternative viable solution. :-(
Regards
