    same here

    ASUS P5GDC-V Delux + P4 640
    FC4 x86_64 --> kernel panic on installation
    FC4 x86 --> kernel panic on installation

    ASUS P4S800-MX SE + Celeron 2.4D
    FC4 x86 --> kernel panic on installation

    The DVD disk is ok, 'cause I use it to install FC4 on an older ASUS P4B533 + P4-1.7G box without a problem. Something must be wrong with the FC4 release...

    Hi

    Same problem here. This is on a sis chipset ASUS laptop.

    Anyone know how to fix it?

    Regards
    Daniel

    I love this fix for the kernel panic problem that Ricky and I have been having! You just type in nonsense at the first prompt, get a brief error message, and then hit enter! It runs perfectly after that. Yahoo!

    Thanks for the way to get it to load. It is now up and running.

    It works!

    That trick works for me as well, I can install FC4 on all my systems. But I can't stop wondering... why?

    It doesnt work for me. What a strange think. Why I get such an error with FEDORA. I dont have any problem with others (distros). I cant understand it. My last fedora is FC2. I think I will install it again. Just wonder can I upgrade tof FC4 by using yum or with other ways. Can anyone help me about it. Or does anyone has a fix for that problem. Because I had the same error with FC3. I wonder if Fedora wants to get itself down...

    I'm getting this *exact* same error.

    This is on an Averatec 6240-EH1 laptop (a64, 512mb, dvd/cd, SiS chipset, 80gb ide)

    Anyone filed a bug report?

    EDIT: One small problem ...

    Ok, here we go:

    It is kind of funny how they recommend I copy/paste that. Exactly where should I copy and paste it to? I can't even start the installation.

    jon3k, when anaconda crashes like that, please report to bugzilla and attach /tmp/anacdump.txt.

    Same problem with kernel panic

    I have the same problem.
    I've even tried removing all existing partitions before doing the install - still wont work.

    Ignore me. I've tried Ricky's fix of typing crap in at the start of the install and then hitting enter twice. It works fine now! Cheers Ricky, ;-)

    Same in here. I tried with my two CD drives, I tried burning the CD's in other machine, I tried removing one by one my DDR RAM's, I tried to boot with the rescue CD. NOTHING WORKS. Exactly the same error that you, lab3e, above.
    I installed FC4 with the same CD's in my work with no problem at all. And the computers are almost identical: Intel motherboard D865GBF (this was the one that failed), and a D865PERL (this one installed ok).
    The next step will be to take the PC to my work and try a network installation....
    This sucks.
    Luis.
