I have a problem with xvid encoding in Fedora Core 3. I've tried converting DVD's to Xvid using various programs (Mencoder, Avidemux, transcode) and, while all these programs encode my movies, they're all SOOO slow (and by slow, I mean like 20 fps for the 1st pass and 5-10 fps for the second pass with the soundrack already encoded and some clipping+resizing).
Considering the speed (40-50 fps and 20-25 fps) I get in WinXP and Suse 9.2 (same computer, same DVD, same software, same settings), I think there's something wrong with FC3... and even FC2 if you consider Anandtech's benchmark (http://www.anandtech.com/linux/showdoc.aspx?i=2114&p=3
I've compiled most programs (including Xvid, both beta and stable) from source so I guess we can rule out the possibility of a bad RPM.
Here are my system specs :
Athlon XP 2800+
MSI K7NDelta 2 (Nforce 2)
512MB DDR 400
ATI Radeon 9800SE
2x Maxtor Diamond Max+ 120GB
Fedora Core 3
Do any of you have the same problem and/or know how to fix it?
