rp-pppoe ADSL configuartion question

Greetings to the forum,

I'm a native Windows user (don't hold that against me ) and have just installed FC3.

However, i am having trouble getting my PPPoE connection to work. in SU mode, adsl-setup doesn't work. it brings up some sort of "bash" error.

When attempting to install the rp-pppoe package, i get an "already installed error". But when i try to uninstall it vie rpm -e i get a package not installed error.

I have tried googling the probelm, bu have found no advise.

any advise on fixing this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks
David

Rebuild the rpm database to clean up the rpm problem:

rpm --rebuilddb

I can't help you with the pppoe issue, I use a Linksys router with my FC3 box and let the router handle the pppoe stuff.

What happens if you try to upgrade the rpm instead of installing it?

rpm -Uvh rpmfile

This is what i get when trying to upgrade:
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
package rp-pppoe-3.5-22 is already installed
And this is what i get when runing adsl-setup (as SU)
#adsl-setup
bash: adsl-setup: command not found

Late last night i succeded in connecting to the internet through internet-driud. That's how i'm able to copy and paste the output.

Do we get the same stonewalling if we try

rpm -e rp-pppoe-3.5-22

? If so, I think the move is to shove the RPM down its throat, since it half believes it has it already

rpm -Uvf --force rp-pppoe-3.5-22.rpm

Although i'd much rather solve the probelm, would re-installing Fc3 and including all pagages solve this probelm. i get similar probelms with FC3 like ifconfig will return a bash error
