Hey everybody how are we all?
now this may or may not be a good idea, but im basing this on my experience as a new linux user.. i think we may need a "transisting from windows to fedora core" kind of page.. i relise there is already a faq, and many cool guides, but i would love to have all of these centralised into the one site, maybe getting the authors to collaborate with each other, or even reformat these articles for ease of use, pictures and things.
maybe even to a point where this document can be pushed out with future releases of fc?
i know there is a good technical guide that comes with fedora, but im not talking about a technical one, im talking about a nicely layed out, newbie guide, ranging from topics about themes and installation of, to installing media players, to making samba work, network file sharing and printer wise, teaching the user about yum and repositories, teaching the user what the root account really is, what the difference is between the user account and the root account etc. you know, common things like that, that are vital for new users to fully be comfortable in linux and have to worry about using dual boots for one program
and at the end of it obviously there should be a direct link to a register page for this site, or even a login page so users can get extra information if its needed.
so i guess the thing is, is any interested in helping, or giving links to sites?
i just really do want to make this a reality!
edit: even if you are just viewing this, and think its a bad idea, also reply, i want all kinds of feedback! thanks!
