updatedb and hidden files on FC3

I am running FC3 and I like it !
I noticed that when I use the search engine in gnome it works well except that it does not locate any hidden files (for example files contained in my .evolution folder or any folder starting with a "."). Doing that as a normal user or root does not change anything. Updatedb is updated.
Does anyone know if updatedb indexes hidden files ?
