FC25 live USB - no harddisks detected
I guess I open a new one since the issue seems to be quite different. After having mouse issues with the FC 25 live USB which aren't resolved yet but getting the installer usable in minimal graphics (reported here), I now face the issue that I get zero local discs shown when trying to install to harddisk, all I get to see is the USB stick.
Which admittedly is a problem for installing to disk.
Any help appreciated.

Try changing your HDD mode (the BIOS key is probably F2)

AHCI should be fine Smart AHCI or simmilar may not; IDE is you last resort & almost garenteed to work

Re: FC25 live USB - no harddisks detected
I had a similar problem on a "windows only" laptop, until I switched the BIOS to "Legacy Boot" , at which time the Fedora Live USB Stick recognized my drive.
NOTE: I never gave win$hit even the slightest chance at fully booting, it would have tarnished my Karma !

Re: FC25 live USB - no harddisks detected
Before I go changing BIOS settings I don't remotely understand - I would ideally like to preserve a dual-boot option - so will I screw up the Windows installation that way?
I use Linux 98% of the time, and I'm specifically into developing 3d graphics (if anyone knows Flightgear, I've done plenty of its GLSL work). The thing is that since FG is multi-platform, I'd really like a testbed for Windows - and also I've made bad experiences with the computer I'm currently typing on, because in its Linux installation, the GPU driver never worked properly and never brought the card to high performance - so I was stuck with a high performance computer rendering at snail speed, and the only way I could actually enjoy my GLSL code at more than single digit framerates in a small window was under Windows.
As much as Windows sucks...

Re: FC25 live USB - no harddisks detected
Not quite sure where to find it. What looks related is:
Under 'Main' the BIOS lists
(...)
Fourth HDD HGST HTS721010 (1000.2 GB)
(...)
M.2 PCIe SSD-3 CX-8B256-Q11 NVMe LITEON 256 GB
(there's more slots for Harddisks which are all empty)
'Advanced' tab has
SATA Operations [RAID on] (can be changed to [AHCI])
(...)
BIOS Reovery from Hard Drive [Enabled]
There's a Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology submenu which lists
Intel(R) RST 15.003.2675 RAID Driver
Non-RAID Physical Disks:
SATA 0.3, HGST HTS721010A9E630 JR1000D31ZB24E, 931.5 GB
PCIe 1.0, CX2-8B256-Q11 NVMe LITEON 256 GB VRV7LOH006C6010Q, 238.4 GB
Under 'Security' I find
Secure Boot Mode [Standard] (can be changed to [custom]
and under 'Boot' I have
Secure Boot [Enabled] (can be changed to [Disabled] which generates warnings that the OS might no longer boot)
I have no obvious option to set anything to [IDE]. At least using F12 to access boot options rather than BIOS config, I seem to remember that I could call up legacy boot mode - but I've read in a multitude of websites that one OS in legacy boot and one in UEFI boot is not a good idea, so I haven't played with this.
If anyone can make sense of it, please point me to some background reading. I really like to understand what I'm doing.

Re: FC25 live USB - no harddisks detected
Question, are you trying to install FC25 64 bit ? or 32 bit ?

Re: FC25 live USB - no harddisks detected
64 bit (double-checking the name of the ISO image confirms that).

I seem to recall seeing a somewhat recent thread where changing to AHCI mode solved a similar issue for the poster.

Yes, that's what I was asking for. Fedora is probably having trouble with the proprietary RAID system. Switching to AHCI, will cause issues with your current Windows install though; back-up and try http://triplescomputers.com/blog/unc...hci-operation/

Re: FC25 live USB - no harddisks detected
I have now had time to try this - simply switching to AHCI prevents Win10 from booting - I get an 'Inaccessible boot device' error. Which turns out to be recoverable by the Win internal diagnostics after turning all back to RAID.
So this

seems like what's needed - thanks. This all gets scarier by the minute...

Yes , micro$hit seems to always come up with some Cartel-imposed BS measure to have the Hardware manufacturers ONLY manufacture stuff for them. We should be complaining to the Hardware manufacturers, stuff like "I was about to shell out 2000 bux on your laptop, but I heard you only run micro$hit, so I will go nextdoor to your competition".

Okay, the guide to change RAID to AHCI worked flawlessly, and subsequently the FC25 installer recognized the disks, so I was able to get the installer in minimal graphics to do its job - right now the computer runs a dnf update - yay!
(and to my delight, unlike for the installer the first installed boot had a working mouse cursor - I'll still install the nvidia drivers eventually).

I'll probably do the complaining...
I haven't looked much at Win10, but it feels more like a terminal to applications running on M$ servers rather than an OS (and it sulked when I denied it the WLAN key...). I don't like that at all.
