printer canon pixma mg2200 recognized but doesn't print

Hi everyone,

I 'm requesting your help for some issue with my new-bought printer MG2200 canon PIXMA that is recognized by the printer application and settled as "ready" but doesn't print, even a test page. I've been looking everywhere for a driver for this printer but the canon usa page does not provide any linux soft for this device.
Would you know of a solution, please, to sort up this situation?

thx in advance,
Ikkyun

Well I don't see your model here http://www.canon-europe.com/Support/...IXMA/index.asp or here http://www.cups.org/ppd.php?L

I would try this http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=280918 post number three by DBelton yum install "system-config-printer" then run it as root "system-config-printer" in terminal and see what happens.

I have to install it then run it as I use kde.I don't know if it comes with gnome. This is the only way I can get my printer to work.I try the kde program it does nothing can't even find my printer and the cups page localhost:631 can't either. This is the only thing that works for me.It's worth a try.Won't hurt anything.

No " " quotes when typing it in.Just in case your new.

I used the mg2100 one which worked very fine (for printing). Still haven't found a driver for the scann though. seems that it does'nt exist.

Re: printer canon pixma mg2200 recognized but doesn't print

If the MG2100 printer driver works, perhaps the 2100 scanner driver will work as well. Install the ScanGear MP driver (rpm file) from Canon, then run scangearmp from terminal (IIRC as root) to launch the ScanGear MP gui applet.

Re: printer canon pixma mg2200 recognized but doesn't print

Hi all,
I've just bought a Canon PIXMA MG2250 and I had some troubles during the installation (on Ubuntu).
I found this post extremely usefull, thanks!

Now I'm trying to help you: at this link

http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consu...ownload&page=1

I found the packages (source, deb, rpm) that worked for me also for the scanner.

The only thing I noticed is that now I can't use Ubuntu's "Simple Scan" (it says there are no scanners), I have to run on the terminal "scangearmp" (it is the software provided by Canon)

Hope this can help someone

Bye!
