problem with brightness

Hey,
as the title may suggest I'm having a problem with the brightness.
Im running Fedora 17 (updated) on my Samsung RV520.

All my FN Keys are working, except for the ones controlling the brightness. When I'm pressing them, the little window that shows the sun appears and the bar (I'm not that much of a linux expert, so sorry for the strange expression) goes happily up and down according to me pressing. Except for it doesn't change a thing considering the brightness. Kinda the same thing (meaning nothing) happens in the brightness settings: I can move the bar up and down and nothing changes.

Since I'm not one of those guys who run to a forum without giving it a try, here's what i've found and tried until now:

-As many "guides" suggest, I tried to reinstall bash (sudo yum reinstall bash).
-I installed the NVIDIA driver according to this site: http://www.unixmen.com/how-to-instal...ora-13-and-14/ (it says f13 and f14 in the link, but the actual article is about f17)
-I installed xbacklight, that, too, doesn't change a thing.
-I tried this link: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=279973

By now I'm kinda desperate, I would really appreciate your help.

Thank you in advance,
sebolicious

Re: problem with brightness

how did you add it.Did you add to the grub line at boot with the e(edit) button if you did as I understand it i, it will boot only that way one time then the next time you restart it will go back to the default values.if you did it in a file like grub configuration file you need to boot a live cd and change it back.I have never had to do this so this is only what I read, with the live cd that is.might want to start another thread explaining what you did if no one helps here.there are lots of pros hear that can help you in a flash more consistently than I can.I just figured that thread had a little more info to work with.I seen the last posts.I tend to stay away form things like that.I tend to create more problems then I solve lol

Re: problem with brightness

I changed it in the /boot/grub2/grub.cfg file. When F17 didn't boot I used recovery Mode and changed it back the way it was before, but it still doesn't boot.
It's not that big a problem, since Fedora isn't my main partition, I'm actually just using it to get to know Linux and try a little nooby C-Programming, it's all reinstalled in about an hour.
But that still leaves me with my radioactive Screen problem
And thank you for your time and help so far!

Re: problem with brightness

Hey,
I tried the things in the post, but all it did was crash my Fedora...
I found some other things, that are suggested, like for example i tried to install https://github.com/guillaumezin/nvidiabl, what didnt work, not one of the installation methods in the read me.

Another interesting fact I stumbled upon:
After I crashed my Fedora, I - of course- tried to reinstall it. I downloaded the newest x64 version, that told me it couldnt be installed because it was missing something, that - after googling a bit - turned out to be a "BIOS Boot" Partition. Only that the x64 version didnt give me any possibility to do so.. Then I downloaded the x32 version, and wanted to install this one. In the HDD Setup i suddenly found the option to create a BIOS Boot Partition, which I did. After that I put in the x64 version again, but it didnt recognize the BIOS Boot Partition..

I'm getting a little desperate, because I'd really like to use Fedora (btw. just for fun I installed Ubuntu, and the brightness control didnt work there either) but with 100% brightness my battery lasts like 1.5 hours, and even on windows its running like 5 hours.. Does anybody know a way?
