Rhythymbox shows duplicate entries

Hello,

I have Fedora 14 running on my HP laptop and I have noticed a very strange thing about Rhythmbox. It shows every song as duplicate. So the library displays double the number of songs which are actually present .

More strange is the fact that when I added a new song into the directory, it shows up only as a single entry in the library songs which are slightly older (say more than a year old) are being shown in duplicate. ~~ !!

I have tried removing and adding the Music folder from the Rhythmbox library, have uninsatlled and reinsatlled Rhythmbox a couple of times but still the problem persists..!!

Any ideas ??

Re: Rhythymbox shows duplicate entries

Moved to EOL (End Of Life) Versions.

Did you tell Rhythmbox to copy files while it added them to the library? If so, maybe Rhythmbox is looking at the source folder also, hence the duplicate entries.

No, I just asked Rhythmbox to monitor those folders for new files.

Re: Rhythymbox shows duplicate entries

You could try deleting the rhythmbox database (or renaming it), so rhythmbox rebuilds it. It should be in .local/share/rhythmbox/rhythmdb.xml (in your home directory).

By the way, un-installing & re-installing a program (usually) doesn't clean up any data files/directories in the user directories (under $HOME).

Re: Rhythymbox shows duplicate entries

Have you checked the directory and sub-directories where you keep your music files stored to check that you don't actually have duplicate entries? I once botched up an rsync command that planted the entire "Music" directory from my desktop pc into my "Music" folder on my laptop instead of "syncing" them, so on my laptop I ended up having two copies of almost everything.

Re: Rhythymbox shows duplicate entries

I've had the same problem with duplicates in Rhythymbox, checked on their site and found this:

https://live.gnome.org/RhythmboxPlug...plicate_Source

When I get back home I'll see how it works.

Re: Rhythymbox shows duplicate entries

@PabloTwo : Therer are no duplicate files, I had checked at the beginning And also a strange thing, if I check the Rhythmbox song properties for both the song and its duplicate , they both point to the SAME file. How is that possible ?

@ hrsetrdr : I tried installing that plugin, but still Rhythmbox displays duplicate entries. The Problem doesn t seem to go . ! Unless otherwise I remove the duplicate items from the Rhythmbox library manually, !!

Any ideas ??
