First post, looking for a theme.

Hey everybody, this is my first post here but not really new to Linux, I have tinkered with it on and off for a couple of years but primarily used Windows OS, I finally decided to dive in head first and strictly use Linux, I wiped out my Windows OS for good, my problem wasn't with the way Windows looked but with all of the bs that came with it. I am looking for a windows type theme that will work on Fedora 17, something that looks like Windows Vista or Win 7 not only for my own satisfaction but also for the satisfaction of my girlfriend, she has never used and Linux product before and cant navigate around to well on a GNOME theme, so I thought I would try and find a Windows type theme to kind of help her out a bit. I have looked around a bit but no luck, I did find an Linux OS made to look like Win Vista but I want to stick with Fedora, any pointer in the right direction would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.

Re: First post, looking for a theme.

Hmmm.

Not exactly sure what you're looking for here. Theme, or functionality. If you're simply looking for a functionality similar to Windows, try Cinnamon, LXDE or XFCE window managers/desktop environments. If you're looking for a theme ... I have yet to see one for Gnome which remotely looks like Windows®.

That being said, try looking around here: http://gnome-look.org/

Something interesting may present itself there.

And that being said ... you can always crack your knuckles, grab the mouse and keyboard, and make your own theme.

Re: First post, looking for a theme.

GNOME2 could look very similar to Winblows© but Fedora uses GNOME3 now.
There's this Cinnamon DE that I guess could be tweaked for that.

Other realistic option is to install KDE and get used to it. It's interface has a LOT of features and can be very customized.
