Current window print screen doesn't work

If I press Alt+Print screen to make a current window print screen, I see just a blank black image in Pictures folder. Desktop Print screen works fine. Please, help me to fix it.

Re: Current window print screen doesn't work

Works with Fedora 16 (twice) and worked with the Fedora 17 DVD.

Which Fedora did you install?

Which Desktop Environment are you using?

Which graphics chip and driver are you using?

It used to work OK to me month ago.

I have Fedora 17 with the latest updates. My DE is gnome 3. I have GeForce GT 240 with nvidia drivers 1:304.37.

Does the screen-shot program work? What about File->Create->Screenshot... in GIMP?

Yes. It works. I have noticed taht it works quite strange. I made a screenshoot of firefox window. It took shot of both the firefox and the gimp.

As I mentioned before, If I press just Print screen it works OK, but if I press Alt + Print screen it fails.

Re: Current window print screen doesn't work

I think it's fairly normal for single-window screen-shots to include any overlapping windows unfortunately. That's one of the reasons for the delay timer option, so that you aren't forced to have the GIMP on top. Just to confirm, the application called "Screenshot" also worked okay?

No, It doesn't. It takes screenshot of whole desktop, but it doesn't take application window screenshot.

Hmm.. After I changed org.gnome.gnome-screenshot take-window-shot option to "true", I have blank "white" window screenshot instead of blank "black" screenshot.

Re: Current window print screen doesn't work

Has anyone found a solution to this? I'm currently using Fedora 17 and an nVidia graphics driver. Alt + Printscreen gives me a black rectangle the size of the current window instead of an image of the current window. It worked perfectly in Fedora 12.

Re: Current window print screen doesn't work

I can confirm this doesn't work for me either. Also NVIDIA "Prt Sc" works fine Alt+"Prt Sc" black image sometimes with an odd line in it. Use to work fine on Fedora 15. Could be Gnome update or an NVIDIA update both have been done. Been assuming it to be NVIDIA. I guess no bug has been filed?

I also should mention I no longer get asked what I want to do with my screenshots save to clipboard, rename etc perhaps this is related?

Re: Current window print screen doesn't work

I recently switched from F16 to F18 and I experience the same annoying bug.
Any news about it?

Me, too.

Fedora18 seems to misinterpret "Alt + Printscreen" as "Alt + Execute",

I don't know what the "execute" key is.
I have never seen a keyboard that has the "Execute" key.

Anyway, I can see it on the shotcut settings panel.

system settings -> keyboard -> shortcut -> screenshot

Re: Current window print screen doesn't work

I'd forgotten about this and gave Alt + Printscreen a try on my computer when I received the email notification of a reply to this thread.

I am happy to say that it has been fixed in Fedora 17. Alt + Printscreen no longer gives me a black square the size of the window under the cursor and instead, works properly.
