Unusually large spins - how to

Dear all,

From a previous post in this forum, i learned that there is a limit to the size of files specified by filesystesm.
Suppose I am creating a spin, whihc is supposed to be unsually large, The questions are:

+ Will it livecd-creator succesfully create the spin (does it use dd internally ? )
+ Can the created ISO file be copied to some other location (as the size is large than the limit, will the file system allow to copy it?

I`m using ext4

Thanks in advance,
Aurabindo

Re: Unusually large spins - how to

Hi aurabindo,

Look for the line towards the top of the ks that reads "part / --size 4096 --fstype ext4" and change it to a larger size so it reads something like:
Code:
part / --size 8192 --fstype ext4
There should be no other issue with copying or creating with a larger size.

Hope this helps,

Andrew

Thank you very much Andew. That was what exactly I needed.

Further, for a larger image, do you suggest any other format for some reason (may be better compression) ?

Hi aurabindo,

The default compression type is gzip. It works well, even for the larger .iso images. I have found no need for a alternative compression type.

Hope this helps,

Andrew
