Minimal Install GDM Black Screen Nvidia GT218(ION)

Hi,

I've had Fedora 15 up and running on my system for a whlie using the Nvidia drivers from RPMFusion.

Now I have wiped the system and re-installed with the updated Fedora 17, totally clean install.

In order to install the Nvidia drivers I followed this guide (the official Fedora Nvidia howto?):

http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=204752

And then subsiquently ran:

Code:
yum group install "X Window System"
and then:

Code:
yum install @gnome-desktop
However, now when I start Fedora in runlevel5 mode:

Code:
default.target -> /lib/systemd/system/runlevel5.target
GDM screen is just black with moving cursor?

If I type in 'startx' while logged in I get a picture of some fireworks but tha'ts all.

The system is a 32bit running the PAE kernel:

Code:
3.5.2-3.fc17.i686.PAE #1 SMP Tue Aug 21 19:27:17 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
The CPU is a dual ATOM with GPU being the Nvidia GT 218(ION)

Re: Minimal Install GDM Black Screen Nvidia GT218(ION)

Yeah I did a "yum update"

However, it was kind of redundant as I did a net-install anyhow in the beginning.

Either I'm missng something in config or install or there's a bug which I've run into - not sure which but that's my hunch!

Ok that was wierd!

I disconnected one of my screens as I'm running dual-display and rebooted.

The system is working fine now, though it's quie difficult to tell the system to use HDMI as primary display over DVI-D. The Nvidia control panel manages to get the right settings but for some reason the screen adjustment never changes as the 'Activities' button seems to always be on the right screen (DVI-D).

Hoping another reboot and disconnect will solve!
