Gnome 3 Weather Extension Always Shows 0 Degrees

I have the gmome 3 whether extension installled. Lately it shows the weather, etc. for my location, but, it always shows 0 degrees as the temperature. I first noticed this during the very hot weather we were having and thought maybe something went off scale.

Anyone know what do do to fix this?

Re: Gnoeme 3 Weather Extension Always Shows 0 Degrees

Which extension are you using? - simon04 or weather extension from rpmfusion?

Did you try setting your location again?

It probably is from rpmfusion, but I don't know for sure. I also don't know how to find out which version it is or remember how to set location

Re: Gnome 3 Weather Extension Always Shows 0 Degrees

To check if you installed the one from rpmfusion, try

Code:
yum list installed gnome-shell-extension*
Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
Installed Packages
gnome-shell-extension-weather.noarch 0-0.3.git393203b.fc17 @rpmfusion-free-updates
If this is what you have installed, click on the weather extension, open the weather settings and set the location there.

Alternatively,

Code:
gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.weather city *****
You would need to provide the WOEID for your city instead of *.

I experienced some weird behaviour with this extension in the recent past. It would change the location to default value suddenly. I have not investigated why - but it happened a couple of times. Try...

Re: Gnome 3 Weather Extension Always Shows 0 Degrees

This extension does not play well if you have network proxies set in your network settings.
If you happen to have proxies set, unset them and restart the shell and you'll be fine.
The other thing to do is to do alt-f2 and then type "lg" to see if you can see any debug info
there in the "looking glass".

Re: Gnome 3 Weather Extension Always Shows 0 Degrees

This is weird. If I do yum list installed gnome-shell-extension* I don't get weather or simon??

I thought that that was what I have just to the right of the date and time on the top of the screen. Is this something else? I've attached a picture.

Not weird at all

Code:
Available Packages
gnome-shell-extension-weather.noarch 0-0.3.git393203b.fc16 rpmfusion-free-updates
I installed it from Simon's git repository and it is still working.

Does the applet show the correct date?

Try to restart gnome-shell with alt-f2 and "r" (without the quotes).

Re: Gnome 3 Weather Extension Always Shows 0 Degrees

Argh. I don't have the 0 degrees problem, but it does seem to randomly revert to Cambridge, MA, which is driving me nuts. It seems to happen particularly after I've rebooted. Is there a better solution besides resetting it every.single.time?

NB: I'm running Fedora 17, just upgraded from 13 last week (!). I got the extension from rpmfusion. Gnome 3 is making me crazy so far but I'm trying to figure out how to work with it rather than just complaining a lot.

I see I'm not the only one having problems with this extension... It always reverts back to Cambridge, MA list mander's does.

I saw that too. But, it happened exactly twice ... about 2 months or so back I think.

OP: Any resolution to your problem?
