what is the default installation directory in Fedora 17?

I used " yum install mysql mysql-server" to install mysql into my fedora,the database software was successfully installed but I have a question like this:Where can I find the main directory of mysql?Anybody can help me?Thanks~

In general, if you have installed a package "X", you can see all the files in that package by this:

rpm -ql X

so take a look at:

rpm -ql mysql

and

rpm -ql mysql-server

What's a "main" directory?

Binaries go into the binaries directory, libraries go into the libraries directory, documentation goes into the documentation directory and manual pages go into the manual pages directory. Try

man mysql
