[SOLVED] .ICEauthority issue.

Hi
I have a F17 Kernel 3.5.0-2 machine which will boot fine and open a Gnome Login Screen. When I attempt to login it comes back with an error message. Could not update ICEauthority file /home/xxxx/.ICEauthority. (xxxx is user).
Is there away to clear this authentication hangup that will allow me to login properly? I have tried 'mv to a .bak file. No luck. Tried touch function. No luck. Even tried 'yum reinstall gdm'. No luck.
I could not find any specific Fedora posts that help, many on Ubuntu but different directories, etc.. Thanks...

I get this problem when I have not properly set up a user account, from a terminal try:

sudo cp -pr /etc/skel /home/xxxx

then go and

sudo chown -R xxxx:xxxx /home/xxxx

to give this user the correct permissions on this folder.

(where obviously the 'xxxx' is a username - don't miss the colon on the second part!)

furthermore, I am guessing you created the user via command line, try this next time;

useradd -mk /home/<username> <username>
