freenx and gnome3 on f17

I have just moved from f16 to f17 and can't get freenx-server working with gnome3.

After successful authentication, just the desktop background comes up without menus or status bars. The only option is to close the NX client window (NX Client for Windows 3.5.0.9) which gives a xmessage suspend, terminate, cancel pop-up.

I have tried setting COMMAND_START_GNOME to "/usr/bin/gnome-session --session=gnome-fallback" in /etc/nxserver/node.conf. This changes gets rid of the "GNOME 3 Failed to Load" error pop-up, but still no menu bars.

It was working on f16 (gnome-desktop3-3.2.1-2.fc16.x86_64 and freenx-server-0.7.3-23.fc16.x86_64).

My nx session log is attached

Any suggestions?

Have logged a f17 bug, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=838028

I see the same thing.

It seems to be an issue with sizing the desktop. The things are there, just off screen. Hitting Ctrl-Alt-R for auto-resize fixes it for me.

Thanks for that, Ctrl-Alt-R works for me too!

Re: freenx and gnome3 on f17

This problem has been reported to Fedora:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=838028

Pending a fix of this bug, we need to get the word out to our users of the Ctrl-Alt-R workaround. I would like to produce a popup message at the start of their freenx sessions to tell them about this. The NoMachine NX server supports a directive NodeLoginGreeting="message" that seems like it would do the job. I do not find any counterpart directive for node.conf in the freenx server documentation. Does anyone know how to achieve this with freenx?

Using Remmina with the nx plugin also works.

I wish that they would improve freenx to work better with Gnome 3 and OpenGL.
