Hi:
I've just upgraded a machine from fedora14 to fedora17 and, while I don't have any problems with usb disks and pen drives (which are recognized as mass storage), I can't mount my camera canon sx120 IS. I went to another machine with fedora 14 and did the following comparisons
- dmesg output is identical in both machines
- idem for lsusb -v
A difference is that, while in fedora14 there appears a window to see the photos with shotwell and an icon, in fedora17 neither of them can be seen. Therefore, while in fedora14 the camera is mounted in an ad-hoc directory under ~/.gvfs, in fedora17 ~/.gvfs remains empty. It seems that there is a bug either in gphoto2 or in the software used when mounting the camera.
The machines have:
kernel 2.6.35.14-106.fc14.x86_64
libgphoto2-2.4.10-2.fc14.x86_64
gvfs-gphoto2-1.6.6-1.fc14.x86_64
the fedora17 has
kernel-3.4.4-5.fc17.x86_64
libgphoto2-2.4.14.fc17.x86_64
gvs-gphoto2-1.12.3-1.fc17.x86_64
As I don't want to manipulate continuously the sd card, is there a workaround? or, in case of downgrading fedora, do you know if fedora 16 works correctly?
Thanks a lot
Jorge
