Android phone and network connection

I use my computer to charge my phone via USB. Is there any way I can stop Network Manager from seeing it as a wired connection. Not a huge deal, but it gets annoying having the notification keep coming up that the connection failed. I don't have tethering on my plan so I have no desire to ever use my phone for an internet connection.

Thanks!

I think I answered my own question. Went into Network manager properties and just turned it off. I would still like for it to not be recognized, but as long as it doesn't keep trying to connect through the phone, I'm good.

Just a quick possibility, go into the Settings -> Applications -> Development and then check the box for USB Debugging. That should stop the unit from being recognized.

Just a thought.

On my Android phone under Settings - Connect to PC I can select the Default Connection Type (it is set to charge only) and set it to ask me or not when I connect it.

That is how my phone is setup, however network manager keeps seeing it as a network connection. My "fix" seems to only work until I unplug it.

USB Debugging is ADB (Android Debug Bridge), which has NOTHING to do with tethering.

OP: Disable tethering on your phone;
System Settings --> Wireless & Networks (or "More" on Android 4+) --> Tethering --> Uncheck "USB Tethering". If this process doesn't work, it would indicate that your phone has crippleware on it rather than a more standard Android distro, in which case you should consider installing a custom built AOSP system image on it for a FAR better experience.

Re: Android phone and network connection

I use Page Plus on a Droid X from Verizon. Page plus uses Verixon Towers/Signal. The droid is found and mounted by Network manager but there is no internet connection (so it seems) I do have internet at 3g speed on the phone. Works with "Tether" on Windows but not with fdora17. Since I am not using verizon as a provider and cannot get them to provision the phone. Is there a way to make it work? I live way out in the country and verizon is the only one there.
