[SOLVED] Help please black screen on first boot of F17

I have just installed F17 on a PC which currently has an old GeForce FX5200 graphics card. The installed worked fine but on first boot I get a black screen with just a mouse cursor. Not being used to grub2 problems on boot I at a loss to know what to do to the options to see if I can get this working. My monitor is an HP X22LED and I suspect this gfx card does not support the native resolution at this colour depth.

I'd really like some help to get this booted so I can set it up properly please.

Well I re-installed everything in basic graphics mode and it now comes up OK. I was a bit disappointed that the installer could not work out what to set up for my card.

I've just installed Fedora and got your exact same problem.

For future references, somehow the program "firstboot" didn't run. The solution was to
CTRL-ALT-F2
login as root
run "startx"
(gnome would correctly startup)
run from a terminal "firstboot" and create the normal user. After this process gdm will show up at start

Thanks for that, however I did do that and I still got a black screen. I think my old gfx card wont get detected properly unless install is done in basic gfx mode which worked fine.
