Problem Installing E173 reliance netconnect 3G Modem In Fedora 15 32-bit os

I am using 32 bit fedora 15 os. i have been trying to install the drivers for the modem E173 reliance netconnect bt was somehow unsuccessfull.

I mailed the Reliance officials who said that Fedora 15 32- bit os doesnot support their device or vice-versa whatsoever. They have also sent me a suggested list of supported OS which doesnot contain the names of any LINUX OS.

I have also tried the modem configuration process posted in this community.
But I am still unable to install drivers for the modemm E173 reliance netconnect.

Their driver cd contains setup for fedora 11, 12, 13 and windows and mac os.

I dont wanna change my modem not even my fedora 15 32 bit os installed, till the last ray of hope is alive.


May I expect some assistance from you guys.

I am not sure about the "reliance netconnect" part of the name, but if
the device is a HUAWEI E173s (model number inside the modem)
then F16 or later is requiered. I could use it partially with F15 but it
was not good at all kernel support for this excentric (crazy fw) device
was poor.

If the device is a HUAWEI E173 (without the 's') then it is a different
modem than mine. (To check if it is E173 or E173s open the modem,
the model number is inside).

I didnot find any driver in the diver cd for fedora 14, 15, 16 or 17.

only for 10,11,12,13 are available.

can you confirm me if E173 works fine with fedora 10, 11, 12, 13...

By the time I will try to get a fedora 10 or 11 or 12 or 13 dvd for installation
