problem with yum update

I have 2 computers set up to receive internet traffic from a router which gets its data from a cable ISP

Works great!

both computers are dual boot

(1) Windows 7 and Fedora 17

(2) XP professional and Fedora 17

problem is that one yum update is getting more updates than the other

On the last yum update, one F17 saw NO updates!

Re: problem with yum update

I'm not sure you have anything to worry about.

open a terminal and try

$ yum clean all

then

$ yum check-update

and then compare the output from both's

# cat /var/log/yum.log

It's entirely possible that both F17 installations are not the same.

To cjheck the total number of packages installed:

$ rpm -qa --queryformat "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}.%{VENDOR}\n"|cat -b

Re: problem with yum update

almost forgot
west computer 3617 packages
east computer 1630 packages

I installed both F17s the exact same way

I installed everything but languages

both are connected to the same simple 4 place router

---------- Post added at 04:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:37 PM ----------

OH! Just remembered

I had another person helping on the east computer so that explains

why the number of packages is less

So I suppose that explains why there are more yum updates on the west computer
