Keyboard. Numpad not working

I have a rather old usb Packard Bell Multi-media keyboard. I should say, I have never had any problems with it, it's just installed as generic 102 intel

However, the numpad to the right of the keyboard does not work in F10, there is some strange reaction of the cursor moving around when you press a key. All the other keys seem fine, though I don't use them all (the multi-media ones).

I tried changing the keyboard in System - Prefs - Hardware
Using various Generic, nothing changes.

If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated. Tx

you have to disable the “Allow to control the pointer using the keyboard” checkbox in keyboard preferences
