AD Authentication ID Maps

Hi Guys,

I have setup a couple of AD authenticated Fedora PC's now but every time i have had to use winbind to map the AD users and groups to linux ID's so Pam will authenticate them.

Is winbind the only way to go for this or am i missing something?

I don't really have an issue with winbind but i always thought that winbind was a dying protocol.

Thanks in advance.

Simon

p.s. the domain level is 2008 R2
