repartition Fedora 15 FULL HOME 50GB FREE IN TMP

I have a 200GB DESKTOP hard drive - set up according to a default LVM FEDORA 15 SETUP

However my home directory is full have to delete files / empty downloads to free 1-2 GB to use it
but disk u du show i have
50 GB FREE SPACE IN TMP AND /USR/TMP DIRECTORY

HOW DO I **DO IT SAFELY**

TO FREE THE SPACE IN THOSE EMPTY DIRECTORIES AND MAKE /HOME LARGER BY SAY IE 30GB
DO NOT THINK I NEED SUCH A LARGE /TMP DIRECTORY
(OR YOU CAN SUGGEST A REASONABLE SIZE)

I have so many scripts and personalised settings and other that i really do not want to loose this personalised home directory and the rest of my computer but i cannot find the exact specific solution on the net
LVM manager do not see a /TEMP or /USR/TEMP directory

BUT I WANT MORE SPACE IN MY HOME DIRECTORY

ALTERNATIVELY
how do i set up a new install of ie f17 without losing my current home directory

Directories don't get full, but partitions and logical volumes do. So my guess is that you have a separate logical volume for home in an LVM physical volume, and maybe that home logical volume is full. Those other directories that you mentioned probably are folders in the filesystem of another logical volume for root, so the LVM manager wouldn't talk about them. But it would mention information about the root logical volume itself, and perhaps it is large enough to spare some space for the home logical volume. If all of this is so, then you could conceivably adjust the sizes of those two logical volumes (and their filesystems) to transfer some space to home. That LVM Management thingy (system-config-lvm, or whatever it is now) should be able to do that. I've used it for that purpose in the past. Maybe things have changed though.

If I guessed wrongly about the situation, then take a moment to post some things to depict and clarify what the situation actually is with the partitions or logical volumes.

P.S.: About doing this safely... Nothing such as this is ever really safe, IMO. I would backup important stuff before doing any manipulation of partitions or logical volumes.

P.P.S.: I'm sort of obligated to move this thread to the EOL (End of Life) forum since it's about Fedora 15. That won't matter to anyone wanting to help out.
