The same error twice

I've downloaded the .iso for amd64 twice, separately and burned them to their respective disks. Same error talking about my filesystem having errors.

The thing is, I just changed hard drives today. The first one actually *did* have errors (clicking for months) but this one doesn't - I've run tons of tests.

So... what's up? Why can't I install next to Ubuntu?

Can you actually state the exact error messages and what you have tried, to test your hard-drive? Have you checked the iso download sha1sum. Also have you made sure that other compontents in your system are functioning correctly? For example check your memory (memtest86) and if possible swap out your psu etc. Does Ubuntu work correctly or does it crash?

I'm sorry if I'm stating the obvious but for anyone to help you we will need more specific information.

I don't have the exact error code. It said something like "repairs will likely require personal interaction." The error happens at some point when it's copying the contents of the CD.

I took a sha1 with some program the fisrt time - it was fine. Didn't take it the second time but there were no interruptions and it all seemed fine.

Ubuntu is working 110% right now - 0 issues and benchmarks ar eshowing great disk results. I used smarttools to check. The HDD is new and hasn't had a hiccup since I actually got it working (unrelated, my stupidity.)

Yeah, I should have provided more information - I fully understand the need to get the details.

Did you try using gparted to format the partition you want to install fedora to and then try to install? If gparted also throws up some error, then you will have more information to move forward - potentially ..

Same issue. When copying live image to hard drive I get:

"Checing filesystem on /dev/sda2"

ext4 filesystem check failure on /dev/sda2

the file system errors left uncorrected

errors like this usually means there is a problem with the filesystem that will require user interaction to repair.

I formatted it myself...

Is it just not able to install next to Ubuntu?

I installed F17 beside xubuntu 12.04 yesterday. So, I would say it is possible to install without problems.

You could also try running fsck from a live CD on the said partition. Since there is no data in the partition, you can proceed with confidence! Try fsck ...

Install did not work even when 'manual' fsck reports no error? Did you try installing after filesystem check?

Also, what image are you using? Did you download the same image twice or did you try from a different mirror? Did you check the sha256 sum after download? I wonder if what you are seeing is this bug? This should have been fixed before release though. Unfortunately, I have no way to tell at this point ....

That's interesting, though easily sorted by changing the system timing in the BIOS? If you're still getting this problem check your system time and change if necessary. If this was the issue then I would add it to that bug.

I can't access my BIOS so even if it were that bug it wouldn't matter.

Unfortunately I'll have to wait to try Fedora.

Thanks for all the help on the forum - seriously great articles/ community here. I'm gonna just stick with Ubuntu and I don't have the disk space to be playing around too much while I work on chopping up Windows.
