USB Crash during the install

Hi,

I would like install the fedora 3 on a usb drive, but during the install i arrive ti a blue screan with :
EIP is at cfq_insert_request+0x45/0xdf

I cheak on the net, and find there is the probleme with some drive and kernel 2.6.9

So i would like to know if it was possible to install the fedora with the hdd on ide, and after rename the partition in the fstab and make a new boot for the usb part ???

or if i need to download the fedora 2 for try ???
