intel fortran compiler on fedora 10
I have Dell XPS M1330 laptop with Fedora 10 x86_64 installed on it. Everything works smoothly. But I am not able to install any kind of intel fortan compiler on it. It says kernal or OS is not compatible with it. intel64, ia64, or anything goes worse. And it is worse for all version of ifort like 8,9,10.
I will be happy if someone posts the solution over here.

gfortran
did you use
gfortran -c filename.f

ifort -c filename.f

Actually my attempt was to install intel fortran compiler instead of gfortan since it has more advantages. OK. Thanks for reply. I will try that also..And will post the result here

fortran compiler
Fedora has gfortran as inbuilt fortran compiler.
you can check by "gfortran -v" to see version.
Or "which gfortran" will give you the path of gfortran executive.
But for intel compilers or like g77, f90, f96, one have to install it manually.

I have fedora 10 installed and it has "f95" as a native compiler. It's a link to gfortran which is the GNU Fortran compiler.
If you want "g95", then you'll have to do some extra work. Search the forums for "g95" and you should get what you need. I believe "g95" is an intel fortran compiler, but I don't have it installed.

ia32 intel fortran 10.1.021 installs here on fedora 10 - not sure about x86_64
the installer complained about unsupported glibc and kernel. but, it gives me the option to proceed with the install, after which it installs ok. the compiler seems to function correctly (well, 10.1.021 has bugs but those are not specific to fedora 10).

I have solved the problem,
Fedora 10 and even 11 with x86_64 bit can compile intel fortran compiler 10. and above..
Fedora is missing one library and that is libstdc .. After installing that, everything goes very smooth ...!!
