I agree. Having applications being able to access the internet anytime they want is just asking for security problems.

I don't want anything to access the internet unless I tell it to. Anything else is just asking for me to block it so it can't access the internet at all.

I am cloning my F17 now so I can push the clone to rawhide, I can't let you guys have all the fun.

I might be mistaken, but I thought this could be achieved through the Software Settings GUI and by using yum? Unless I'm misreading what you mean...

And for those updates that can cause a problem, what is so hard about a logout?

Yep, sure can.

I was just annoyed because the OP quoted from an article that cast Window's and OS X's update in the same light.
