How to install TT fonts in F17 Xfce?

I installed the F17 Xfce spin.

I have a folder containing TTF fonts that I'd like to install.

(Anticipating problems, I've already changed all the filenames to lower case, and all the permissions to 777.)

It would be nice to have a Xfce graphical solution, but when I double click on a font though it is correctly identified as a True Type font it also says:

If you're the only user on the system, just create a (hidden) .fonts folder under your Home directory and drop 'em in there. No need to change case or permissions. Job done.

Okay, now I've got a home/.fonts/myttfonts folder full of fonts.
But they don't appear in LibreOffice Writer.

I misunderstood you.
I've now put the fonts in
home/marek/.fonts
and all is well!

Re: How to install TT fonts in F17 Xfce?

I just tried Dan's method and it does work ...all the directories and files are readable by me.

Normally I just drop the files in a directory under /usr/share/fonts like /usr/share/fonts/msttcorefont/trebucit.ttf for example.

LibreOffice finds them in either.
