Need to get 32-bit ATI drivers on Fedora 17 64-bit

Just like the title says...

I need the fglrx drivers because I'm going to be gaming. I've compiled and installed the 64-bit Catalyst 12.6 Beta driver on my system, but I'm not sure how to go about getting the 32-bit OpenGL libraries installed. I believe I need them for running any 32-bit games, and I KNOW I need them to run Diablo 3 in WINE (which is my short-term goal). PlayOnLinux tells me that I'm missing the 32-bit OpenGL libraries when I open it, by the way.

My system:
Intel i7-930
2 x Radeon HD 5770 (in Crossfire)
Fedora 17 64-bit KDE Spin
Kernel 3.4.0-1
Catalyst 12.6 Beta

Please let me know if I can provide any more helpful information. Thanks!

How did you manage that?

People keep telling me that the Catalyst 12.6 beta driver does not compile on Fedora 17 systems with kernel 3.4 ;-)

Re: Need to get 32-bit ATI drivers on Fedora 17 64-bit

"Out of the box", it doesn't compile. You need to make a couple of changes to some of the source files. It's easier than it sounds, and the needed changes are outlined in this post on the OpenSUSE forums:
Code:
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/tumbleweed/475575-warning-kernel-3-4-amd-catalyst-12-4-not-compatible.html#post2466327
(I can't make it a URL since I'm a new user on this board.)

Let me know if you run into problems with any of that and I'll try to help you out.

Any thoughts on getting the 32-bit OpenGL libraries for ATI/AMD/fglrx into Fedora 17 64-bit?

Re: Need to get 32-bit ATI drivers on Fedora 17 64-bit

Just to provide a little closure to this thread...

This resolved itself somehow over the course of Fedora's updates (or possibly install build-dependency packages for Handbrake or MakeMKV). I wish I knew how this happened or which packages solved it, but at least PlayOnLinux no longer complains about a lack of 32-bit OpenGL libraries.

Diablo 3 is now running fine -- frame rates are a little low though. I'm buying a new Nvidia card (GTX 670). I plan to run some form of Linux on this PC for a very long time and it's just not worth it to deal with the AMD graphics/driver nonsense any more. I'll update this with the results of that card.

EDIT: It looks like the Catalyst drivers have made their way into the rpmfusion repos. See here: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showpo...0&postcount=10
