Re: Good bye Linux

Sillav,
We don't know you or your wife, but by looking at your post, it doesn't sound well.
You might think there are some harsh comments here, but for every statement one can argue both ways. Linux is all about choice. I 'm not here to lecture you on windows or linux.

Just go with whatever your heart says, but remember these posts made by other people here. There is a lot of truth in it too.
Good bye, sillav!

Re: Good bye Linux

Their can be many reasons for going back to windows but microsoft office, and the wife are just not one them.
Besides you can set up a dual boot, why the migration to windows when it's not nesscary? I mean is there problem choosing your os on grub? If she doesn't like how it looks you could alway make it default to windows unless you press an fkey. Or and if she dont like having reboot to login in to windows they are alternatives. I just find that whole rant hard to believe. More likely he just liked windows better could be wrong. Every once in awhile I'll throw a windows on here when I get tired of the linux games. Because I really have too much of a low end older system to run them though wine. So their are times when I do have windows xp as second os. But then again I think windows went down hill after xp anyways, but what would I know.

Re: Good bye Linux

My misses to be knows the rules, this is my PC, even when we get married, the PC in the corner is mine! Hell, she don't even have her own user account!

She does have a laptop, which has a sticker for windows XP but no windows xp oem CD, so when she needed it re-installing she got Fedora 15 and has been happy with it for the last year. LibreOffice has severed us well too, she has been using it without issue the last few weeks to fill in job applications (all of which are .doc files, made in MS Office).

My wife has her own computer, a Toshiba Laptop still running Fedora 17 86_64 BETA. Hers has a sticker that says "Windows 7," but 7 was only running on it for one day. I met my wife 8 years ago, and introduced her to the computer. Mine was running Linux, so Linux is what she leared on. Windows confuses her, she says, and is "too slow." The wife uses Libre Office Suite to do our business, and it is far superior to Microsoft Office. She has Wine installed, and often plays "Beweled 2," a "Windows only" PC game.

I see Linux as an acid that is eating away at the Corporate Giant M$

I see you live in Canada. Having been divorced more than once, it's not less work, at least not in the US, even with no fault.

Re: Good bye Linux

Hi
We talk about the "freedom". It includes the right to choose. We should support the right to leave as much as we support the right to enter. This OP required only "You are welcome back anytime". Cheers...

Re: Good bye Linux

I would question the OP's motives. Why post at all, just quietly leave.

The fact that he felt the need to tell us that's he's leaving and his nonsensical reasoning, says more about him than Linux and/or Windows.

When I have felt the need to leave anything, for whatever reason. I just leave. No comment or commentary.
I think the post about "Troll" says it all.

Re: Good bye Linux

It was and is a rant, which is welcome in this particular section of our collective insanity. Perhaps even it was the desperate ravings of a vulnerable man, pushed by love, far beyond the confines of reality, reason and good sense. <....>
