Where's the network icon disappeared to? (F16)

I want to connect to a VPN that I've previously set up in gnome 3, but the network icon at the top right of the screen is gone. It's been a while since I last used it, so not sure when it disappeared, but anyone know how to get it back as I can't get onto my VPN ATM

Sorry for the late reply. Been side-tracked with other things.

That worked, so thanks very much for that, but what happens with updates. Won't yum keep trying to update my NetworkManager packages?

I know I can selectively ignore the NetworkManager updates, but then I won't get the bug/security fixes. Is there no other way to fix the broken VPN settings in newer version of NetworkManager?
