Fedora 14 Nic issues ?

Yes I know that the latest may fix the issue but I am wanting to build out a amahi.org home server and only 14 is supported ( at this time ) .

The issues is with Fedora 14 ( 64 bit ) does not seem to recognize my nic .

Machine is an HP 8200 elite form factor with a Intel 82597LM NIC. Now I have tried to manually add a network card choosing the Intel Gigabit drive supplied and it never sticks( or the settings never stays and has never worked ).

Any ideas what I might try and I am kind of a newbie to linux so please keep that in mind when describing steps .

So do I just open the RAR and there is an installer ?

There is a README which explains the installation in great detail:

tar xzvf ~/Downloads/ixgb-1.0.135.tar.gz
cd ixgb-1.0.135
less README

cd src
make install

or does your kernel already have the ixgb module?

locate -i ixgb

yes ixgb is there ..
when I try to "make install" I get command can not be found . The cd worked and I am in the DIR of the drivvers.
