Angry Re: Fedora 11: Complete guide to fix PulseAudio and video/audio VLC Media Player issu

OK. I eventually found and solved the problem with Avahi; it appears in the services; and it was deactivated. I activated and could then enter in the device chooser.
However, whatever I did with the various volume tabs the result is always the same: an aweful noise on the external microfone - and I checked with three different models- and the voice is extremely lousy and very low compared to the background noise.
Any idea what one could do to solve that problem?

I tried your guide but it didn't help. The audio stutter stopped only after I installed my graphics card driver. (Fedora 11)

Re: Fedora 11: Complete guide to fix PulseAudio and video/audio VLC Media Player issu

I did exactly as mentioned in this guide. But my sound in still not working in my Fedora 15.
My sound was working perfectly fine in Fedora 14. My system crashed because of a power failure and had to do fsck at the startup. After this my system came up, but there was not sound. Later I upgraded to Fedora 15, still the same problem persists.
The great thing abt this is there are no sound cards detected in the sound preferences, but I can hear sound if I run any Streaming videos from the web browser. I dont understand how this happens.
I am not able to play any video/audio files stored in my PC.

I tried running from a Fedora 13 Live CD. It is detecting the sound card. Both internal and external.
But when I run Fedora 15 which is intalled on the hard disk, it is failing to detect either of the sound cards.

lspci command displays all the sound card informations from Fedora 15.

Can you please help me in this regard?

Thanks a lot.

Re: Fedora 11: Complete guide to fix PulseAudio and video/audio VLC Media Player issu

(Sorry for my english >< )

It's work, without reinstall pulsaudio, of course, I've tried to remove it, but yum would removed gnome-shell, so I've just applied the modifications in default.pa and default.conf, I've rebooted, put audio device and output to default in VLC ( prédéfinie en français :s ), relaunched VLC, and after 30s of ugly noise, music became normal \o/ and from the moment i've did this, I don't have any problem

Hi maximiliengolum
I have had garbled sound in VLC when first starting a DVD for a long time. I will try what you say and hopefully it will fix the issue. I will advise here as to how I make out. I have had a problem with VLC since F14 and still do in F17. Thanks...

Hi maximiliengolum
I found two 'default.ca' one in '/etc/pulse/' and one under '/var/lib/gdm/.pulse/' . Which one do you 'make modifications to'? What exact modifications do you make? Does VLC work OK, on subsequent restarts? Thanks...
