Reinstall to other Distro

I have fedora 16 installed last year and last week just upgrade it to f17.
But now after 2 -3 time login, this time around it wont boot anymore. It stucked at the wpa_supplicant.

I just could find my way to configure it.
In my hand, I just got the Ubuntu 12.04 iso usb, and I plan to Install it over fedora 17 partition but want to mantain my home and data (lvm encrypt) ext4.
Could I regain my data when using the new os.

I have no data backup.

You should definitely make a backup of your important files first ;-)

You might be able to keep your data if /home is on a separate partition.

You can achieve this by installing CUSTOM LAYOUT.
Not aside of XY, not overwriting linux partitions, or other options, only the custom layout will let accomplish this, IF your current /home is seperated from F17's root "/". Just as George said.

And a question... you want to keep your home and data.... the data inside home?
