How to make the tabs thinner in Firefox?

How to make the tabs thinner in Firefox?
I have made the title bar thinner using sed -i "/title_vertical_pad/s/value=\"[0-9]\{1,2\}\"/value=\"0\"/g" /usr/share/themes/Adwaita/metacity-1/metacity-theme-3.xml

It would be nice to have the Firefox tabs thinner too. Does anyone know how to do that?

Regards!

Ariya

I suspect this may not be dealt by the GTK engine. But maybe you would need a Firefox theme or the like.
Check http://www.mozillazine.org/ for more specific help.

Have you noticed that in Gnome 3 everything is massive? If you check the Fedora 17 with KDE for example, you'd have thinner tabs in Firefox. Title bars and other bars in any app window is fat in Gnome 3, have you noticed?

Re: How to make the tabs thinner in Firefox?

Well, I use Xfce. This GNOME 3 issue is probably related with them thinking of it being used in things where the GUI elements need to be thick so people can drag them with their fingers.
Adwaita GTK2 (the one Firefox uses) is a clone of the Clearlooks theme.
I don't think you can tweak clearlooks engine's tab width.
KDE uses the Oxygen GTK theme, which mimics the Qt theme. It's more sensible space wise.

You could try other GTK themes but there really ain't much choice of good themes that provide both GTK2 and GTK3, which is what you would need. This is made worse by the fact that up until now themes have been broken with every GTK 3.x version.

Did you check if the Oxygen GTK theme supports GTK3? That might be a solution.
