user status, display resolution and detection problem

I'm not sure why but the user status shows unavailable but won't let me change it
since it's ghosted (only a minor annoyance since I'm the only user)

For the display resolutions it's only showing 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600, neither of which
seems to fit right

For the display detection it doesn't detect my tv which is connected via HDMI, but it will
mirror the primary monitor to it.
16 was able to extend the desktop onto my tv, the graphics card is a ATI 5770 if that helps
