Re: Skype 4.0
Glad to know that it is being maintained for linux. I was "worried" that Linux build might be discontinued.
Does it still need libtiff (libtiff.so.4) library link to be created?

Re: Skype 4.0
This seems to be a 32 bit version, and it's labled for F16.
I'd love it if they put out 4.0 for the x64 versions of Fedora too.

Re: Skype 4.0
Just tried it on ArchLinux--somewhat nicer interface than before.
Ok, just tried it on Fedora 64 bit. First I did yum remove skype, uninstalling the 2.x version. Then I did rpm -ivh skype-4.whatever for the F16 32 bit version (on Fedora 17).
When I tested it, it was fine, whatever i686 programs it needs were already there from the earlier install.

Re: Skype 4.0
I'm running 17 32bit and it's working great and it does have a few extra options, nothing to write home about, different call screen.
I guess it's a little progress anyway.

Re: Skype 4.0
I don't know if this was a Fedora change or Skype change (or even something that's been going on for awhile that I never noticed.)
At any rate, now, on F17 64 bit, one can download the Skype i686 rpm, and just run yum install on it. (No more need for localinstall, something else that I didn't know). It successfully pulls in all necessary i686 libraries, one doesn't have to do it manually anymore. As mentioned, not sure if that's new or not but it's new to me, anyway.

Oh, that is very nice! I have also had to install libraries myself to get skype to work before. Much more convenient this way! Nice!

Well, if mtk sees this thread, he'll know that he's the one who told me, and it's already helping others.
