Thanks for the suggestion, I tried this prior and it worked...the x server loaded and tossed the settings aside I did find the problem, it was the xorg.conf...up until 17, i have always used a depth setting of 24, and the card was happier i should say, i threw in 32 on a whim and voila, now back to the correct resolution. The EDID still happens but its loading and i pay it any mind as it still loads. I am still trying to test it the best i can.

1) There is no such thing as "ATI". They have ceased to exist.
2) Its more likely a problem with one or both of your MONITORS, not the AMD graphics card or driver.

True ATI is gone, I only have the one monitor, I did the xrand add modes and its back to normal...for now :S
