Re: what do I do to play *.wmv video
that is cause you never tried XBMC....your life wont be the same anymore!
on my machine, dell 1521, the only player that can play 1080p movies is XBMC....all the others are useless. can anyone tell me why!?

I have used XBMC. It's nice but I don't always want a giant interface when I wanna play a song or movie.
VLC can play 1080p video in almost any format you throw at it.

Re: what do I do to play *.wmv video
Not having used autoplus, I'm not sure, but what about enabling rpmfusion?
http://rpmfusion.org/Configuration
If you do that and install vlc or mplayer, you should be able to handle most things.

Re: what do I do to play *.wmv video
it is quite easy with autoplus. just install "most codecs" and it will enable rpmfusion.
when we are talking about video playing, dont waste your time with other players, use XBMC.

Re: what do I do to play *.wmv video
Its a question of taste, not functionality.
Personaly i favor VLC & Totem.
For 'pure' FOSS, you gotta stay with Totem & (or) XMBC.

Mplayer
Totem
VLC
...and yes, even xbmc should all be in the software repos.

Re: what do I do to play *.wmv video
xbmc sould be in rpmfusion repo.
try to check software sources to see if you have rpmfusion enabled.
add/remove software-software sources and see if the rpmfusion free/nonfree is enabled....or even exist!

Re: what do I do to play *.wmv video
Code:
Package Arch Version Repository Size
================================================================================
Installing:
xbmc x86_64 11.0-1.fc17 rpmfusion-free 27 M
I didn't install it as I don't need another media player (my preferences are for mplayer and vlc in that order) but seems to be available if you have rpmfusion installed. (See the link to it in my earlier post).
